Amanda Gorman: poetry for children

Amanda Gorman touched many of our hearts at the inauguration of President Biden almost a year ago.

Whether Democrats, Republicans or Independents, we all admired the 22-year-old poet’s award-winning lyrics and powerful presence.

That day she said these words

We will not be overthrown or interrupted by intimidation because we know that our inaction and inertia will be the legacy of the next generation, become the future.

Our blunders become their burdens.

But one thing is certain.

If we merge mercy with might, and might with right, then love becomes our inheritance and changes the birthright of our children.

Yes, powerful words for all of us as she pleaded:

For there is always light, if only we are brave enough to see it.

If only we were brave enough to be.

Gorman has had an amazing year and now she’s turned her magic with words into a wonderful new book,”Change singsfor the youngest of Americans. The book is designed to be a hymn of joy, hope and change for the children of this great country.

These words are just a few examples of the messages she sends to children:

red and blue streamers.

I dream with the cries
