Barclays online banking crashes, preventing users from logging in

HUNDREDS of Barclays customers were unable to access online banking after an outage on Wednesday.

According to downdetector.co.uk, technical issues hit the bank around lunchtime but appear to be resolved now.

Online banking is down at Barclays Bank

The problem began around 1:30 p.m., affecting people in a number of locations.

According to Barclays service status page. online banking was having problems.

A message read: “We’re sorry, there is currently an issue with online banking – we are working to resolve this issue.”

But it now says the problem has been fixed and “everything is working as it should”.

ATM withdrawals and card payments are working normally.

The bank said it was also experiencing a high number of chat help messages and response times could take longer.

We have asked the bank about the issue and will update when we have a response.

Downdetector showed over 200 outage reports, with online banking and online connections affected, as well as mobile banking.

Barclays has a dedicated page on its website which indicates if any services are affected by an outage.

It includes both Barclays and Barclaycard apps, websites, and telephone and online banking.

You can also check out websites like downdetector, which will tell you if other people are having trouble with a particular business online.

Barclays provides banking and savings services, while Barclaycard is a credit card brand of Barclays.

Can you claim compensation for bank failures?

Unlike telecommunications companies, banks do not have a fixed compensation scheme for service interruptions, although depending on the extent of the impact on you, you may be entitled to a refund.

It’s worth gathering evidence of your problems so you can file a formal complaint directly with Barclays or Barclaycard.

Try to keep track of when you were unable to access the website or app, and any charges you incurred as a result.

If your credit rating has been affected by a service outage, because you received a late payment fee after being unable to complete a transaction, for example, you should also keep a record of that.

If you spoke to someone to try to resolve the issue, write down their name and the date you spoke to them, along with roughly what you discussed and what they advised you to do.

You can find more details on how to complain to Barclays and Barclaycard on their websites.
