Juan Daniel Pacheco-Sierra, a graduate of Santa Maria High School 2022, was selected 10e in the United States for his essay on “Enhancing the Stock Market Experience” in the IvestWrite writing competition.
The national competition is offered to fund students and teachers participating in The Stock Market Game, a program that connects students to the global economy with virtual investments and real-world learning.
Juan’s essay included three things he learned about investing and how it can help his future and the future of others. His written work also covered which stocks, bonds and mutual funds he would invest $100,000 in to perform well over the next 30 years and why.
“I want to thank InvestWrite for recognizing my work and selecting me from a competitive group of writers as the national winner,” said Juan, who was notified at the end of the summer. “I hope that the lessons offered by InvestWrite will again become assets for future investors and will have an impact on many others.”
Juan, who will be attending UCLA next month, received a $100 gift card, journal/pen, medal and certificate is on the way. His parents will also receive a certificate soon, and “proud parent” magnets.
Cindy Quaid, president of the business department, received gifts similar to Juan’s, but include a class banner.
“I am very excited and proud of Juan’s accomplishments,” Ms. Quaid said, adding that she will proudly display the InvestWrite winner’s banner in her classroom to encourage all prospective students to broaden their options and continue to expand their interests. and their knowledge as individual learners. .
