Midland County Crime Register – August 31, 2021

The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by journalist Andrew Mullin.

Wednesday 25 August

10:25 p.m. – Officers responded to an assault on Holly Court.

8:33 p.m. – A deputy located a tree on a wire on the roadway in the township of Jérôme. The information was passed on to Consumers Energy and Jerome Township Fire secured the scene.

6:59 p.m. – Officers responded to a vehicle accident at Greenbrier Terrace and Lambros Drive.

6:02 p.m. – A deputy has filed a domestic assault report involving a 59-year-old woman and her 51-year-old husband in Lincoln Township. The report was forwarded to the Midland County District Attorney’s Office.


4:28 p.m. – Officers responded to a fraud case on Maryland Street.

2:08 p.m. – Officers responded to a theft case at Whiffletree Lane.

12:42 p.m. – MPs assisted the Midland City Police Department by checking Overlook Park for a Midland City man who may have been suicidal. The man was not located and Midland Police investigated.

11:47 a.m. – A 24-year-old woman from Mount Haley Township called 911 referring to a verbal argument she had with her 24-year-old boyfriend while at a friend’s house in Lee Township . The woman was upset that he posted information about her parenthood on the internet. The argument escalated until the woman hit the man’s rearview mirror on his vehicle and scratched her hand. Both sides said there was nothing physical between them. The man did not want to do anything for his mirror and the woman did not need medical attention. The woman returned home while the man stayed with his friends. They were asked to let things calm down and remember not to post negative comments about each other on the internet.

3:17 am – MPs have been dispatched to a location in Township of Greendale regarding a broken down vehicle partially blocking the roadway. The deputies located the vehicle parked in the traffic lane and the driver was sleeping inside. The 53-year-old driver was later arrested for drunk driving and the woman was held at Midland County Jail and the vehicle was impounded. A report is being sent to the prosecution.

2:54 AM – MPs assisted a Coleman police officer with a messy person in the town of Coleman. The 55-year-old Coleman man was later arrested for operating while intoxicated.

2:51 am – A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Larkin Township referring to a report of a person walking around the property with a flashlight. The deputy checked the property and residence and did not locate the person or anything suspicious.

12:01 am – A member of Parliament responded to a residence in Hope Township to a report of a minor who had escaped. While investigating the incident, the minor contacted his mother. The miner was in Saginaw County and reunited with his mother.
