New arts troupe in Waterford announce first poetry meet date

A new arts troupe ‘Lismore & West Waterford Arts Group’ (LWWAG) is hosting its first post-pandemic poetry night on Monday 21 March at 7.30pm at Marine Bar, Pulla, Ring, Dungarvan (http://marinebar.ie/).

This meeting is open to anyone with an ambition, a talent, an interest or a curiosity for poetry, and is an example and an opportunity for all those who love the genre and wish to share their enthusiasm with other personalities of a equivalent and mutual passion.

As we progress, we will seek to identify, nurture and develop opportunities and prospects for all members, whether local or further afield.

Beginning on the above date, LWWAG will host a live poetry night at the Marine Bar every third Monday of every month, as well as an online Zoom meeting on the first Monday of every month. We hope this satisfies anyone who finds either arrangement more comfortable and convenient for themselves, and of course any member can join both.

Over the past two months a number of devotees have come together to help develop the structure and plan for the future, and now that we have a fixed location which is convenient and well known to many in the area, we hope that all who read this will come to discover and participate in the experience of the progression of this troop since its origins.

Initially, these poetry evenings will include readings, discussions and creativity lessons for members’ individual works, as well as a focus on themes such as “What is poetry? “Is poetry the poor relative of prose? ‘War Poetry’ ‘Romantic Poetry’ ‘Poetry of Ireland’ and poetry from different cultures, times and places, plus ‘How to Write Poetry?’ and many other areas of consideration.

Eventually, LWWAG seeks to organize festivals (as it was done in another form; before the pandemic) and organize rehearsals and the presentation of poetic performances to audiences large and small in a range of venues.

On another occasion, the LWWAG will also announce plans for further ambitions related to the development of opportunities for painters, sculptors, musicians, theatre, film, screenplay and prose writers, so keep an eye out for those too. prospects and/or register your interest below.

If any of the above appeal to you, head to Marine Bar on Monday the 21st at 7:30 p.m. for our first Poetry Night launch. You will be welcome.
