Mason Mount’s performance against Leeds United on Wednesday night was another shining example of the Chelsea star’s performance this season.
Chelsea took a big step towards the top four in the Premier League this season with a 3-0 win at Elland Road.
The Blues Mount star opened the scoring in four minutes with a superb finish from the edge of the box before assisting Christian Pulisic’s strike early in the second half. Leeds were down to 10 men midway through the first half when Dan James was sent off for a callous tackle on Mateo Kovacic.
Romelu Lukaku, who was a real handful throughout, finished the scoring with his late scored goal.
Your club’s SURPRISE star this season
Mason Mount’s performance against Leeds United
Mount, 23, continued his excellent individual campaign with key contributions to Leeds.
The attacking midfielder now has 13 goals and 16 assists in all competitions this season, making him the standout individual at Stamford Bridge going forward.
Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith, who was co-commentator for tonight’s game, was blown away by the impact of Mount at Elland Road.
“Mason Mount has sometimes been poetry in motion. Such a classy player and young enough to become even better. He was too much for Leeds tonight,” said Smith Sky Sports Main Event Channel.
Must start on Saturday
For some, Mount is one of the first names to be on the weekend squad sheet against Liverpool in the FA Cup final.
Mount spoke of the daunting task of playing at Elland Road ahead of tonight, but he did a light job.
Its end product has increased massively since last summer. It’s exciting to think about what he can become with even more time with Tuchel as coach.
