Operation Lifesaver Celebrates 50 Years of Rail Safety Education
The non-profit rail safety education and awareness organization Operation Lifesaver will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Through various educational opportunities, including driver lessons and independent lessons, Operation Lifesaver has helped reduce level crossing accidents by 84% over the past five decades, according to the nonprofit. Yet almost every three hours a person or vehicle in the United States is struck by a train.
Throughout the year, Operation Lifesaver will offer free presentations on rail safety. The group has also launched an online trivia game called Tuesday Train Track Trivia. Every first Tuesday of the next 12 months, players will have the opportunity to answer 16 questions about rail safety signs and signals, the history of railways, and how to respond to various rail safety scenarios.
“Tuesday Train Track Trivia is a fun way to see what you know about safety around tracks and trains! We encourage everyone to go to [our website] every month for the newest game and to share those games with your friends and family, ”said Rachel Maleh, Operation Lifesaver Executive Director.

Corrugated Container Manufacturer Launches PCG Cares Initiative
The President Container Group (PCG) said he created the PCG Cares initiative to provide communities and service organizations with the corrugated containers needed to support various distribution initiatives.
The idea arose out of the large number of requests from shelters, food banks and other organizations looking for containers to store meals, medical supplies and personal effects during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our goal is to help each other, one box at a time,” said Larry Grossbard, vice president of PCG. “We are all responsible for doing our part to serve the communities around us. By providing corrugated containers, we will provide one more item for pantries, shelters and other such organizations, helping them to further stretch their resources and help more people in need.
PCG said it has donated more than 20,000 containers since 2020, with its largest contribution to the New Jersey Center for Food Action. His most recent contribution was to Project SuperHero, providing the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Infant Graduation Boxes to Neonatal Intensive Care Units across the country.
